Giving feedback on my students' work – Päivi’s dog training diagram

In this video, we are discussing a piece by Päivi. She took part in my Pragmatic Sketching Masterclass which I run once a year. Part of the course are four feedback sessions where I give personalised feedback on students’ work.

Päivi visualised a flow diagram of a dog training technique to be used as an illustration in a book.

In this excerpt of the feedback session, we talk about making images clearer and about adressing the overall structure of the diagram.

And in the end, Päivi’s illustration actually got published in the book and based on that she also got a chance to do new illustrations for 2nd editions for the previous and next volumes of the book. Well done, Päivi!

Would you like to get feedback?

I might have the right thing for you…

I want to experiment with a new format this spring. Starting on the 10th of March 2025 I am offering a series of 6 weekly practice sessions where we get together to draw, experiment and give/get feedback on our work. The sessions take place live over Zoom, every Monday at 7pm (Berlin time CET). Each date has a different topic we’ll explore and two of the sessions will be dedicated to me giving concrete feedback on your work.

If this sounds exciting to you, you’ll find all the details and the sign-up here:

I’m looking forward to practicing together!
